About

Hello,

I am an Art Major at Whittier college and plan to graduate December 2011. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA. My artwork is about a curse and a blessing that happened in my life between the ages of 14-16. I had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; it is a type of blood cancer that is sentenced with two and a half years of treatment. I went through 63 liquid chemotherapy treatments, took several chemo pills daily, high doses of other forms of medications such as prednisone, and had countless spinal taps and bone marrow biopsies. I like to play with the juxtaposition of cute and cancer. I love cute things such as cupcakes and bows. I find them as true to my identity as does the cancer treatment and my Jewish Heritage. I want the viewer to be uncomfortable, smile or frown. I also want the viewer to be confused or feel a connection to the elements that are grasping their senses.
